As Business Analyst we gather, analyse, detail and document requirements in a format that is useful to your business stakeholders and the technical developers.
We gather requirements in a group setting by preparing an agenda and managing the group discussion. We identify core data requirements beginning with project initiation and define all necessary data components and then detail complex data related rules.
We understand why the project has been initiated (project statement of purpose) and the goals of the project (project objectives). We analyse the business problem without jumping to a solution.
We analyse and understand business problems, business environment and make recommendations to help the business stakeholders solve problems . As project involve more and more people from various departments within an organisation we bring people together to gather requirements and gain consensus on solutions.

Overall we define and scope business area, elicit requirements, analyse and document requirements, communicate requirements, identify solution, verify solution and meet the requirements.
